Dr. Ayşe Nak has been serving as an Assistant Professor at ITU Maritime Faculty since 1988. She graduated from ITU's Department of Meteorology in 1985. In 1990, she completed her master’s degree in Climatology, focusing on wind analysis in Istanbul, and in 1994, she earned her PhD with a dissertation examining the effects of wind analysis in the Istanbul Strait on maritime traffic. Dr. Nak is an expert in maritime meteorology, oceanography, maritime education, as well as quality and accreditation. She has participated as a researcher in various national and international projects, including a maritime education project supported by JICA in 2002 and a BAP project in 2009 that investigated the wave energy potential along Türkiye's coasts. In addition, she holds various certifications, such as the IMO Model Course and YÖK-DM auditor training. From 2002 to 2020, Dr. Nak served on the GMDSS exam commission. She is also a member of key organizations such as the Maritime Education Council (DEK) and the Maritime Education Accreditation Association (DEDEK).
