Dr. BOLAT received his PhD in maritime transportation engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and is currently an assistant professor at ITU. He worked as a maritime expert for commercial shipping companies, and he was a state surveyor and vice harbor master of Istanbul at Turkish Maritime Administration before joining academia. He gives lectures on IMO, international maritime rules and regulations, ship surveying procedures, and ship power systems. He was acting as education certification director at the ITU Maritime Faculty. He is also a former seafarer and a graduate of World Maritime University (WMU) and Lloyd's Maritime Academy - London on international maritime rules and regulations. He is the author of over national and international articles, and he is frequent reviewer to international publications.
